The Sigmund Companies Announces the Inaugural First Creek Festival at Broadway Shopping Center

Free, all-day community celebration on Saturday, September 12, 2026 pairs a volunteer creek clean-up with live music, local food and family programming in North Knoxville.

Knoxville, TN, August 13, 2026 — The Sigmund Companies (“TSC”) today announced the first annual First Creek Festival, a free community event to be held Saturday, September 12, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Broadway Shopping Center, located at 2001 N. Broadway in Knoxville, Tennessee. Presented by Broadway Shopping Center in partnership with Keep Knoxville Beautiful, the festival is built around a simple premise — nature, community and experience — and marks the next step in TSC’s ongoing effort to establish the center as North Knoxville’s gathering place. The day opens with a volunteer clean-up along First Creek from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., organized in partnership with Keep Knoxville Beautiful, and continues with live music from local bands from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., food and beverages from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and a Kids Zone featuring a bounce house, toy train and family activities from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Admission is free and parking is available on site at no charge.

“Broadway Shopping Center has served North Knoxville for decades, and First Creek runs right

through the heart of it,” said D. Wright Sigmund, Managing Partner of The Sigmund Companies.

“When we acquired this center, we committed to investing in more than the real estate. Starting

the day with a creek clean-up and ending it with music, food and families on the green is exactly

the kind of experience we want this property to deliver for the community.”

The festival reflects TSC’s broader approach to necessity and experiential retail: pairing a

resilient, convenience-oriented tenant base with programming that gives residents a reason to

visit the center beyond a single errand. The event is designed to drive traffic for the center’s

merchants while giving local vendors, musicians and community organizations a platform in front

of a regional audience.

“Our partnership with Keep Knoxville Beautiful lets us do something durable for the creek and the

neighborhood on the same day we celebrate it. We intend for this to be the first of many, and we

are just getting started in Knoxville.”
